Stride Bio

Project Type Science & Technology

Location Research Triangle Park, North Carolina

StrideBio is a commercial renovation of approximately 30,250 SF on the second floor and ground floor of 5 Lab Drive and the northeast wing of 9 Lab Drive. StrideBio is a cutting edge BSL-2 Laboratory and Office facility working with Stride’s proprietary AAV vector engineered gene therapy technologies. The Project was designed and constructed 2020-2021. The 5 lab project included Analytical Development, Vector Labs, Downstream, GMP QC, Process Development, offices and support areas. Downstairs a 5,000 SF cGMP suite and adjacent GMO warehouse was designed and constructed.

The Project’s design intent was to create spaces that would encourage the interaction of people within the facility while balancing human comfort, safety, and separation concerns inherent to laboratory work. The more continuously occupied spaces were positioned to take of the abundance of natural daylight in the building. The open office was carefully engineered with acoustical measures for the different departments working in that space.

The breakroom has multiple height seating options and direct access the exterior balcony. Specialized laboratories and core laboratory support spaces are adjacent to the larger open lab space for centralization of function, light optimization for the larger lab, and to encourage fortuitous interaction between the user groups within.
