Michael D. Sutton, AIA

Principal | President

Michael brings over 20 years of experience to Integrated Design, having served in various leadership roles throughout the firm’s history. His expertise spans project management, design, and leadership, with a strong focus on the education, athletics, science, and government sectors. Michael has played a key role in shaping many of Integrated Design’s successful university and collegiate projects.

David B. Kirk, AIA

Principal | Director of Business Development

A founding member of Integrated Design since its inception in 1999 and Director of Business Development, David boasts over 30 years of experience in design. His diverse portfolio encompasses projects for laboratory, office, and retail clients, expertly guiding them from the initial programming phase to successful construction completion.

David’s leadership extends beyond individual projects, having spearheaded numerous master planning initiatives within Research Triangle Park. As an award-winning designer, his accomplishments include the prestigious 2009 Sir Walter Raleigh Award, a 2010 Triangle Business Journal Best Build Out recognition, and the Kamphoefner Honorary Fellowship.

Juliette G. Dolle, AIA

Principal

Juliette has over 20 years of experience in managing diverse project typologies as both Principal and Project Architect at Integrated Design. Beyond her core architectural expertise, she fosters strong client relationships and finds deep satisfaction in mentoring future generations within the field.

Juliette’s distinguished career encompasses previous roles such as Director of Design for a multi-state non-profit builder and an affordable housing design studio, alongside Project Architect experience in multifamily residential and mixed-use developments. Notably, she served for two years as Chair of the AIA’s Women in Architecture committee, demonstrating her leadership within the industry. Juliette’s active involvement extends to TCREW (Triangle Commercial Real Estate Women) where she previously held the positions of Membership Chair and Board Member.

Ryan C. Lockett, AIA

Principal | Director of Design

A member of the leadership team at Integrated Design, Ryan holds the titles of Principal and Director of Design. With over 20 years at the firm, he has designed and managed a diverse portfolio of projects, with a focus on religious, multifamily, and institutional clients. Ryan further brings extensive expertise in long-range master planning, which he has applied to many of these projects.

Hannah Atkinson, AIA

Associate Principal

Hannah draws on over a decade of project management and architectural design experience to deliver a highly organized and analytical approach to every project. Her extensive portfolio encompasses a wide range of projects, from tenant fit-ups to ground-up construction. She efficiently navigates all phases of design, from initial conception to successful construction administration, as a result of her extensive design experience.

A passionate advocate for the profession, Hannah actively contributes to the architectural community. As Past President of her local AIA chapter and currently serving as Secretary for the state chapter of AIA North Carolina, she fosters the development of future generations through teaching and mentorship. Her dedication extends to guest-critiquing student projects at the Interior Architecture department at UNC Greensboro.

Samuel Burner, AIA

Associate Principal

With over a decade of experience in architectural design, Sam has cultivated a strong portfolio across diverse project types, with a particular focus on life science and technology facilities. He thrives on designing spaces that facilitate groundbreaking research and innovation. Sam possesses a keen interest in fostering effective collaboration between design, engineering, and stakeholders within mission-critical building sectors. His collaborative approach to design ensures the successful delivery of project types that drive future innovation in the science and technology space.

Anna Hendrick, AIA

Associate Principal

Throughout her tenure at Integrated Design, Anna has demonstrably excelled in both supporting and leading a wide range of project types across all phases of design. She brings a thoughtful, process-driven approach to her work, with a strong emphasis on understanding existing conditions and project constraints to inform strategic design decisions. This approach allows for the seamless integration of existing and new building elements, resulting in cohesive, efficient, and highly functional spaces for clients. Anna gravitates toward projects that emphasize flexibility and multi-use functionality, designing environments that can adapt over time. Her commitment to user-centered design ensures that the voices and needs of all occupants are carefully considered and meaningfully incorporated.

J. Thomas Yount, AIA

Senior Architect

With over 35 years of experience in the architectural field, Tom established Integrated Design in 1999. Renowned regionally for his expertise in laboratory and technology-focused projects, he leverages his diverse background encompassing retail, office, distribution, industrial, and sports facility clientele.

Tom’s distinguished service on various code and regulatory advisory committees for the City of Raleigh, the North Carolina Department of Insurance, and other civic and private organizations, equips him with a deep understanding of building codes, programming, and master planning. He brings this wealth of knowledge and experience to every project, ensuring successful and impactful design solutions.

Christopher Bartlett

Director of Laboratory Planning

As Integrated Design’s Director of Laboratory Planning, Chris brings over 25 years of experience to the planning and programming of diverse research environments. His expertise spans research laboratories, pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, GMP warehouses, commercial tenant laboratories, research greenhouses, industrial manufacturing applications, and biocontainment facilities.

A highly skilled BIM user, Chris also develops custom databases and specialized programs to streamline lab equipment planning, field documentation, and engineering calculations. His background in mechanical engineering and plumbing ensures detailed collaboration with engineers on projects.

Kate Boland, NCIDQ

Director of Interior Design

Kate boasts over 20 years of interior design experience, which encompasses a diverse range of project types, including public, community, educational, preservation, and sustainable design. Her extensive portfolio showcases expertise in commercial fit-ups, laboratories, healthcare facilities, and even world-renowned music venues. This experience, coupled with a scientific background and a deep passion for environmental sustainability, fuels Kate’s dedication to designing laboratories and other high performing spaces. She creates spaces that seamlessly integrate functionality with ecological responsibility. Highly organized and skilled in prioritization, Kate fosters strong relationships with clients and vendors throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring successful completion from inception to execution.

Anya Aikman, AIA

Project Architect

Prior to joining Integrated Design, Anya established a strong foundation in architecture over eight years, encompassing diverse project types such as interior commercial fit-ups, retail, and multi-family developments. This experience has prepared her for her current focus on the science and technology industries. Anya possesses a meticulous eye for detail and thrives on the process of translating design concepts into comprehensive technical drawings, ultimately transforming vision into reality.

Caitlyn Wilson, AIA

Project Architect

Caitlyn has almost a decade of design experience encompassing a diverse range of project types, from interior design and commercial fit-ups to urban master planning and high-end residential projects.  She is a proponent of architecture that fosters a positive community impact and integrates seamlessly into the local context while retaining a distinct identity.  Caitlyn thrives in challenging environments that provide opportunities for continuous learning and professional development within the architectural field.

Kristen Warring, AIA

Project Architect

Kristen has cultivated a strong project portfolio specializing in science and technology projects.  She fosters a collaborative and creative design environment on all her endeavors, thriving on the diverse problem-solving challenges inherent to the science and tech sector.  Kristen leverages her exceptional visual rendering skills to effectively communicate design intent to clients, bringing projects to life with clarity and impact.  Her background in art history informs her design approach, where she champions the creation of spaces that effortlessly integrate functionality with a strong aesthetic sense.

Emmy Wood, LEED Green Associate

Architectural Designer

Prior to joining Integrated Design, Emmy honed her skills at architectural design firms in North Carolina and Colorado.  She brings a wealth of experience across diverse project types, from high-end residential to commercial interiors.  Emmy plays a key role in developing and implementing firm production standards, while also streamlining BIM processes to enhance project efficiency.

João Pedro Saraiva, Assoc. AIA

Architectural Designer

João Pedro plays a key role at the firm as both an architectural designer and visualization specialist. In this position, he leads the development and execution of high-quality visual content that supports the firm’s design and client engagement goals across a range of project types. João Pedro also contributes to internal innovation by evaluating new software and techniques, supporting team training where appropriate, and helping integrate visualization into the firm’s broader design process. His collaborative approach and ability to translate complex ideas into compelling visuals make him an asset to project teams and an important contributor to the continued evolution of Integrated Design’s design culture and client experience.

Elinor Angel

Project Architect

Elinor brings to the firm over 15 years of experience across diverse project types, including government, healthcare, educational, office, and laboratory facilities, with a focus on sustainable design. She thrives in collaborative environments, excelling at problem-solving and meticulously attending to project details to ensure successful completion.

Christian Smith

Laboratory Planner

Christian Smith is a Lab Planner specializing in Science & Technology projects at Integrated Design. With a detail-driven approach, Christian assists with the design and coordination of laboratory environments.

Working closely with Integrated Design’s Director of Lab Planning, Christian helps with the translation of complex ideas into clear, coordinated architectural documentation. His work includes advancing laboratory modeling in Revit, coordination of specialized MEP systems, and detailed tracking of critical lab equipment, supporting with the delivery of functional, safe, and adaptable research environments.

Christian’s commitment to collaboration, integrity, and emerging design technologies strengthens Integrated Design’s ability to serve clients in the Science and Technology field. Through purposeful and detailed design solutions, he helps create spaces that advance innovation and support each client’s mission.

Anne Yount

Office Manager

As Office Manager, Anne is instrumental in ensuring the firm’s smooth operation. Her responsibilities encompass a wide range of administrative tasks, including coordinating vendor-led educational sessions and organizing social events that foster team spirit.

Accounting

Elaine serves as the backbone of Integrated Design, the firm’s go-to for everything from accounting to human resources.

Ben Taylor

Emeritus Architect

Ben Taylor grew up in Maple NC in Currituck County, attended Moyock High School, and graduated from the North Carolina State University (NCSU) School of Design in 1958. He worked in San Francisco, Italy, and Portsmouth, Virginia for the Army Corps of Engineers then starting in 1963 for Raymond Sawyer (his cousin). He worked for Leif Valand from 1964-1969 and was a part time instructor at the NCSU School of Design. In 1969, he founded Envirotek (now Integrated Design) with Bob Burns and Abie Harris, practicing architecture at Envirotek for 32 years. (https://www.ncmodernist.org/taylor.htm)
